Description
A water-resistant pullover made with signature oil finish Shelter Cloth.
Our Shelter Cloth Waxed Anorak combines the natural rain protection of waxed cotton with the simplicity of your favorite hoodie into a minimalist shell that packs small enough to take anywhere.
The roots of historic anoraks trace back to the ancient arctic. These hooded pullovers were constructed from the skins of seals or caribou and were often coated with fish or whale oil for water resistance. Made with our signature oil finish Shelter Cloth from England’s historic British Millerain, our anorak does away with animal skins and fish oils. The sturdy, midweight 11-oz. fabric is thoroughly saturated with heated, liquefied wax under high pressure to ensure a water-resistant treatment that is in the fabric, not merely on the surface. Shelter Cloth’s name comes from its similarity to the canvas used in historic military tents.
A quarter-length front zipper provides ventilation, or wind and rain protection when zipped up to the chin, and features a zipper garage to prevent pinching. Within the large center-kangaroo pocket hides a zippered security pocket. The forearms are reinforced with an additional fabric layer for added durability, and feature snap-adjustable cuffs for a custom fit. The side-seam zipper makes donning and removing this traditional pullover effortless, and the hem and hood are drawcord-adjustable for maximum wind protection.
