Description
Natural wet weather protection from the archives.
The Foul Weather Rain Pants are a proven design pulled from the Filson archives. This new version is made with sturdy oil finish Shelter Cloth for increased durability in the field. Our signature water-resistant Shelter Cloth is from England’s historic British Millerain. It’s treated with liquefied wax under high heat and pressure to ensure saturation deep into the fabric. The name comes from its similarity to the canvas used in traditional military tents known as ‘shelter halves.’
These rain pants are fully lined with nylon and feature a roomy fit for ease of layering. The elastic waistband features a drawcord for added security. The lower legs are gusseted for donning over boots and are reinforced with a ‘kick patch’ double layer on the inner face. Elastic in the cuffs helps seal out wet brush and grass. On-seam hand pockets are roomy and secure with snaps.
A natural product, waxed cotton will vary in shade, markings, and wax saturation from batch to batch. Oils may transfer onto fabrics in direct contact, and dyes from linings may interact with the oils in the waxed finish, especially when new. These characteristics are normal and inherent to the fabric treatment and will hasten the unique patina and character that develops with use.
